Ku Kula Kuatsi - Girls' Livelihood Skills

Purpose
The overall objective is to train school girls from 12 Girls´ Clubs in useful income generating activities and business knowledge. The project will also provide these school girls as well as other students attending the 12 schools, Information, Education and Communication materials (IEC) addressing sexuality, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

 

Target Group
The project´s target group  is first and foremost 200 girls from the 12 Girls´ Clubs. It is expected that another 280 members of the Girls´ Clubs will gain acquaintance with what the 200 girls have learned.

 

Activities
The project will carry out training sessions for 200 girls from 12 Girls Clubs in income generating activities and business knowledge. The project will also provide IEC materials  and make condoms available for the youth at the school counseling corners. The students, including members of the Girls´ Clubs will gain knowledge on reproductive health issues as well as sexual heath in relation to their education.

 

Project area

 The project will be implemented in 12 schools in Vilanculo District, situated in the Northern part of Inhambane Province, Mozambique.

 

Project Period and Budget

The project runs from 1 January 2011 until December 2011. The budget is DKK 500,000 granted from Erik Thune´s Foundation of 1954.
