SLOGIN

SLOGIN stands for Strengthening Local Governance in Natural Resource Management. The project develops the capacity of civil society organizations to hold the government accountable for the implementation of natural resource management. This is to ensure that it benefits poor and marginalized people. Furthermore to ensure that any decision making processes related to the use and management of natural resources includes civil society organizations who represent local communities. The project began in 2008 and will run for four years.

 

Target group
The primary target groups are civil socíety organizations and poor and marginalized people living in the project area. The secondary target groups are poor and natural resource dependent people living in the entire country, since the project will have a positive spill-over effect in other parts of Uganda.

 

Activities

The project will work towards:

- that civil society organizations in Southwest Uganda will exercise more influence on the implementation of policies on natural resource management at the benefit of poor and marginalized people living in the area.

- that civil society organizations in Southwest Uganda will be better and more effective at monitoring the implementation of natural resource management and assessing whether it benefits the target group.

- that civil socety organizations will be better at holding the government accountable for the implementation of natural resource management, including whether it is effective and just.
