SIEED - Social Inclusion in Economic Growth

Objective
The purpose of the SIEED project (Social Inclusion in Economic Enterprise Development) is to increase poor rural producers participation in and benefit from Vietnam's economic growth after the country's accession to the World Trade Organisation. Through a range of activities the project will ensure that farmers benefit equitably from marketing of selected products regionally and nationally and develop sustainable farm/forest production systems. The project will also increase local organisations' capacity to support community groups and ensure that their access to markets is improved.

Target group and area

The target group is women, men and their dependents in 8,745 households (51,715 people) of which ethnic minorities constitute 83.7 percent in 15 selected villages in Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong and Tua Chua districts. It is expected that 380,000 inhabitants will benefit indirectly from the project.
