 CARE Danmark

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Master students with relevant educational background can apply for an internship placement in the countries where CARE Danmark supports programmes. The internship period is normally between 4 to 6 months (maximum).

CARE Danmark currently supports projects and programmes in Ghana, Niger, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nepal, Vietnam. On the basis of the project/programme needs, the respective CARE Country Office defines the tasks. For various reasons related to project activities, in this round of internships we are only able to advertise for tasks in Ghana, Uganda, Niger and Vietnam. However, as in the past, future internships will also be available in all the countries where CARE Danmark facilitates development programmes. We expect to advertise for more tasks in autumn of 2010 (for spring 2011 internship placement).

The Internship task list 2010-2 has been sent to a number of relevant Danish educational institutions.

Written applications in English must be submitted (not by email) to CARE Danmark Secretariat (for internship tasks in Niger, applications must be submitted in both English and French). CARE Danmark reserves the right to select qualified candidates for the internship tasks in collaboration with CARE Country Offices.

CARE Danmark is unfortunately not able to offer financial support for the internship.

Project:
Natural Resource Government Component of CASI, Participatory Watershed Management Project – phase 2

Task:
Cooperate with CARE and Partner (TUSTA) to document project experience in integration of community based visioning and watershed management planning into the District Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP). Support the integration of gender equity and women's empowerment into the ongoing process and PWM project. Support production of articles for TUSTA magazine. The final document must be user-friendly and practical oriented. S/he will also support English language communications for CASI programme and project team when in the project site.

Background:
The Component for Natural Resources Governance (NRG) is one of five program components for Phase III of the Civil Action and Socio-Economic Inclusion in Sustainable Development for Northern Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam (CASI III). This component addresses marginalised rural ethnic minority peoples' rights to use, manage and benefit from the natural resources they have entitlement to. The Participatory Watershed Management (PWM) – phase 2 project falls under the NRG Component and facilitates a process and 'people first' approach whereby watershed communities are supported to identify, realize and incorporate their own natural resource based livelihood development goals into a community based management arrangement of watershed resources. The project assists communities to build on existing local natural resource management (NRM) systems and collaborate with local authorities to realise their development goals. It aims to support communities to change their livelihood and NRM strategies to be more sustainable, effective and equity oriented. On request, CARE is supporting the District to replicate the community visioning and land use planning processes in all communes to include community participation as part of their annual socio-economic development planning (SEDP). PWM initiated some gender analysis but the team need support to mainstream gender equity into the planning process.
